SURROUND ME LIKE A SATELLITE.

Since staking out her territory in the southwestern US pop landscape with debut singles “Sweet Ophelia” and “1965” earlier this year, Zella Day’s  been turning all manner of heads on both sides of the Atlantic. This week she returns with possibly her strongest offering to date in “East of Eden”, going full Steinbeck as she effortlessly weaves together the religious tragedy of Lana Del Rey with the big picture majesty of Florence and the Machine. With heavy piano chords and skyscraping choruses aplenty, it’s a powerful piece of open road pop majesty and the perfect prelude to her UK debut next week,  as Zella hits New Shapes at Notting Hill Arts Club next Wednesday.
