We first introduced you to Thief – the artist formerly known as Thief Urban and currently known as our new favorite Australian – a few months back, and today he takes his first proper steps into the spotlight with the unveiling of his debut EP, Closer. It’s a thoroughly impressive debut from start to finish, but it’s the title track that’s the real game-changer in the mix and the song that first put Thief on our radar last year. Boasting a vengeful brass section that cleverly contrasts with the electronic comet streaks and that ice cold falsetto, it’s a massive pop tune just warm enough to thaw your frozen heart. And if you close your eyes and squint hard enough, you can just about see this everywhere in 10 months’ time.
