We first met Freda James at one of our shows a few years back, and it wasn’t long after that she took our breath away with an early demo of “Pushing You Away”. The track’s lived a lot of lives since then, twisting and turning through various iterations, but finds it’s way into the light today as James’ debut single in all its fully realized glory. Produced by Dave Weingarten and Noah Breakfast, it feels like 90’s Mariah reimagined through a post-Disclosure 2010’s pop lens, pulsating electronics and pressure cooker builds laying a foundation for James’ pirouetting R&B vocals.
