NO WONDER LEFT IN PARADISE.

There’s a new pop princess making us feel some type of way by the name of Mononoke. She’s from Liverpool, and there ends everything we know about her besides the fact that she looks primed to make some serious waves as we enter the twilight of 2013. On debut single “Alice”, she takes the plunge down the rabbit hole into a monochromatic wonderland of noir decadence. And as you close your eyes, the dream sequence sets in and the chord progression pulls you under its fairytale spell, crackling with melodrama as it fires up her shivering vocal timbre. It’s an impressive debut from Mononoke that emerges from the inevitable shadow of Lorde with a downcast operatic sound that’s entirely her own.
