It’s hard to believe it was half a year ago that we were first blessed with Hoodlem‘s soul-soothing hip-pop via brilliant early singles “Through” and “Firing Line“. Then lo and behold, the Melbourne outfit returns to the forefront today with “Old Friend”, which is just as hard to pin down, eviscerating any and all genre lines and leaving in its wake a majestic new aurality that feels like the perfect middle point between Jai Paul and Lorde. From the haunting vocals to the lip-curling guitars, it’s a crazy diamond in the rough that begs multiple listens.
