Since taking their first steps into the world with us on their debut Wings 7″ so many moons ago, HAERTS have steadily cemented their place in the Neon Gold pantheon with each subsequent release, right up through their self-titled debut LP last year. But today marks a new high water mark for band, as they unleash previously unreleased beast “Animal” upon the world.

Recorded with St. Lucia during their debut album sessions in Nashville, “Animal” is a song that the band has always loved, but one they felt didn’t fit the overall aesthetic of the LP. According to HAERTS, “‘Animal’ was inspired by a short video clip we saw at a movie theater. The clip showed an underwater scene of sea creatures moving around each other in some sort of crazy dance. During the writing and production process, the song took on a life of it’s own, but we always felt that there was something animalistic about it and the title is still referring to that initial image.” Unleash the beast above, this is one you won’t want to miss.
