SO REFINED.

Like the oddball cousins of Lorde and Broods, Doprah arrive with their debut EP this week as the latest New Zealand export to wash upon our shores. Orbiting within the same galaxy as starmaking kiwi producer Joel Little – who produced Doprah frontgirl Indira Force‘s debut solo single “Stay” – Doprah takes the leftfield pop New Zealand’s quickly becoming known for and takes it even further left, cruising headstrong into Purity Ring / Animal Collective territory. “Stranger People” stands out as the EP’s highlight and most enduring testament to those references, swirling and whirling around you like a hypnotizing triptide, as cinematic strings samples ebb and flow and your turntable melts slowly into the floorboards. Get weird with “Stranger People” and check out Doprah’s eponymous debut EP here.
